Shower Time!

Well it has begun. The baby showers I mean. This past Saturday I had my first baby shower. My Aunt Ky and cousin Rachel threw me a wonderful shower for family and a few special friends. Everything was very nice. Rachel made a Motherhood advice book for me. All the ladies wrote advice for me and Aaron on raising and loving children. Rachel also made the diaper cake pictured above. She is so talented and creative. We played a few games, my favorite being the race with the baby toys, unfortunately I was not very good at the game and got out on the first round. I just wanted to thank everyone that came out and blessed us with gifts for Levi. We feel very blessed to have all of you in our lives.

Here are some of my favorite gifts from the shower. These are three handmade blankets that I received. The dark blue and light blue is one my Aunt Ky made, the blue and white is the one that Moo made, and the cowboy one is the blanket Rachel made Levi. Aaron's favorite is definitely the cowboy blanket.

This past weekend Aaron and I went to the PRCA rodeo in Perry, GA. I'm sure most of you are aware, but for those of you who don't know, Aaron is a huge rodeo fan. So much so that he used to ride bulls just a year or two ago. Even though he hasn't ridden or competed in a while, we still enjoy going to the rodeos and watching all the events. We haven't been to a rodeo in about a year, so when we found out the rodeo was going to be in Perry we decided we would go. It was one of the better ones that we had been to and we both had a great time.

Just Another Glimpse

Well we had another ultrasound done yesterday. This one was at the specialist. I have been going there for them to monitor the baby's growth and progress due to the medication that I had been on. Because I'm going to the specialist I had to take my glucose test early at 24 weeks. It came back normal - Praise God, so when I take it again at 28 weeks if it comes back normal I may be done with the specialist. However, I am enjoying my visits to the specialist because they do an ultrasound every time I go, so we are getting to see our little guy a lot. I'm not complaining. I love getting to see him and hear his little heart beat. They gave me a few more pics, so I thought I share them with you guys. The picture above is a close up of his face. You can see his cute little button nose so well.

In the picture above we got a look at him with his mouth wide open. The tech told us that the blob you see hanging out the side of his mouth is his tongue! In the picture below he is yawning. I guess our little man was getting a bit tired.

Ok, so Rebecca has been wanting me to put up an updated belly picture. Well I haven't taken one in about two weeks, but I will - I promise! Today I am exactly 26 weeks, but the picture below is one I took about two weeks ago at 24 weeks, so I'm a little bigger than what it shows, but this is for you Rebecca.

One Sweet Face...Sort of.

Today was our 3D/4D ultrasound. We had debated on whether or not to do it since we were paying for it out of pocket, but in the end decided that we would. Besides, this is our first and we are eager to get a glimpse of our little man any time we can. Just yesterday my mom was telling me how stubborn I had been in the womb (not wanting to flip for delivery), and my little one was no different today. The success of the ultrasound completely depends on the cooperation of the baby, and ours wasn't having it today. We were able to get some pretty neat pics, but none of his face like we were hoping. The technican gave us a CD with all the pictures on it and told me to bring it back on my next visit and she would try to get a good one of his face to add, so we are keeping our fingers crossed. All in all, it wasn't bad and we did get a little idea of what our little man looks like. Hope you all enjoy the pictures.

Small Car = Small Car Seat

So Aaron and I have been trying to put a baby registry together, and have run into more frustrations than we expected. Don't get me wrong, I love picking out things for out little one, but our plans have had to change quite a bit in some areas. We planned on being practical and getting little over-sized unnecessary items that we felt we wouldn't need or at least wouldn't use for more than a few months if that. Last night we went to Babies 'R' Us to add some of our big items to the registry. We were going specifically to look at car seats, strollers, high chairs, and play yards (pack-n-play). We had already been to the store and had an idea of what we liked, so Aaron had gone on Consumer Reports and looked up the best products. Needless to say, we were prepared with a list of what we were looking for. We registered for a play yard, found no high chair that we cared for, and looked at strollers and decided on the one we had previously chosen. Its not too big or bulky, and with a small car like I have it must fit in the trunk without taking up the entire thing. Now onto car seats.

Aaron and I are opposed to the baby carriers that double as car seats. Neither of us are fond of them simply because they seem like to much to carry around. Because we felt this way we had decided to go with a convertible car seat that would work for infant to toddler. We had decided that we wanted to register for one of the safest based on Consumer Reports. It was more expensive than the others, but we had already decided we would purchase it ourselves if need be. We went and picked out three that Consumer Reports suggested and asked if we could try them out in our car to see which one fit the best. Well, it is a good thing we did. My small car barely fit any of them! One fit ok, but it is basically in the front seat with us. Disappointed, we turned to the baby carriers. Both of us hating the idea, we looked at the baby carriers. We decided to put one on the registry until we can figure out what to do about our small car situation. Its not all bad. We registered for one that matches our stroller and fits in it. We also figured that just because we had the carrier didn't mean we had to carry it everywhere like most people do. All in all, it isn't horrible. We were just hoping to get the best buy for our money. Who knows - a new vehicle may be in our future to fit our growing family.

What I was doing 10 years ago I was a sophomore in high school, and was dating Aaron. I was involved in my church's youth ministy, and was probably looking forward to my 16th birthday. 5 Things on my "To-Do" List Today 1. Clean the house. 2. Go to the upward basketball game and coach with my dad. 3. Clean out the dishwasher and load it back up if I'm lucky. 4. Work on my baby registry. 5. Help Aaron in the yard. 3 Bad Habits I have 1. Waiting til the last minute to put gas in the car. Luckily I've only run out once. 2. Not returning phone calls. Signals are hard to come by out in our neck of the woods. 3. Getting on the computer and then realizing the whole morning is gone cause I was checking facebook, my email, or my blog. Places I have Lived Hwy 212 for most of my life, then 4 years in Milledgeville, Ga while attending college, the Hill House in Conyers, GA for 1 year, and now Mansfield, GA going on 3 years. Things most people don't know about me I used to hate dogs until we got Dodger and Dixie. Now I love them! I was in a car accident at 9 weeks old, and broke my leg. I was a school teacher for 3 years and hated every minute of it. I love animals, especially exotic kinds. I love to travel. I've been all over the continental US, visited Canada, been to Mexico three times, and Thailand twice. Looking forward to my next adventure. I like to paint even thought I'm a little artistically challenged. I love music - all kinds....well, usually. I love getting the mail. Junk, bills, letters, whatever! - ditto Rachel. I love criminal investigative shows...especially Criminal Minds. I graduated number three in my class in high school, and summa cum laude in college. I secretly wish the Christian and Tarleton girls could get together every morning and sing "Part of Your World" from the Little Mermaid. I am awaiting the CD :) I loved my childhood. We were blessed with one of the best. I know tag no one. Not because I'm not a good sport, but all those listed under my friends have already been tagged, and there is not need to tag my mom. She barely updates her blog.

24 week update

So I'm trying to be more diligent in updating the blog about the pregnancy. I finally scanned the rest of my ultrasound pictures from my 21 week visit, so here they are. The one above is of his arm. He was giving us the "thumbs up." Isn't it cute. The one below is of his face. You can make out his two eyes, nose, and mouth. His hands are also noticable on each side. I also included a belly pic for those of you that just love to look at them. I took it earlier this week, so it is me just shy of 24 weeks. The baby is growing, and my belly is too. I go to the doctor this Monday for my gestational diabetes test. I have to take it twice due to the medications I was one a few weeks ago, so I have this one, and then another at the regular 28 week visit. We are so excited, and can't wait for this little one to arrive.
