How can this cute little guy make me so frustrated?
Last Friday Levi had a bad day. He didn't take a nap and was just hard to please around. At first I just thought "It's one of those days," and tomorrow would be better. Then tomorrow came. The whole weekend he was quite a pill. Sure he had his sweet moments, but he was not our easy-going little guy. Something was definitely up. Sunday night he was up every three hours! Something he hasn't done in practically 2 months. Monday rolled around, and I decided to take him to the doctor to see if perhaps he had an ear infection or a perhaps tranquilizer gun I could use. Neither. He was in perfect health, which was a great thing, but I was looking for an answer to all this fussiness and something to sedate him wouldn't have been bad either. The doctor told me he was probably cutting another tooth, so baby orajel and teething tablets it was. Fast forward to yesterday. No tooth and no better. I sort of figured by now the tooth that is supposedly coming would have reared it's ugly head by now. The days are usually better than the nights, but he still isn't back to normal yet. To get him to sleep I have had to swaddle him the last two nights. I have tried gripe water, mylicon drops, tylenol, teething tablets, baby orajel, teething rings, and bathing him; none of which have had lasting relief. All work for a little while, but none work every time. So, all you parents out there I need some words of encouragement. Any suggestions you have or similar stories you want to share comment away. Perhaps I just need to know that "this too shall pass," and hopefully SOON!

Sorry..I know it's hard... no real advice..but wanted to let you know I hope it's better soon. My suggestion would be to see if Grandma wants some quality time with Levi and go on a date! :) You need a break every now and then! It won't make him better..but will help your sanity!!
OH..one thought..do you think he's getting enough to eat? Are you feeding him yet? I would suggest perhaps trying some rice cereal (not in bottle..but in bowl).
I heard it could take a good while before a tooth comes in sometimes. so maybe it is another tooth taking it's time.
good luck.
Thanks for the suggestion Gincy, and I've already thought of that, but I'm trying to hold off at least to the 5 month mark. We'll see if I cave in before then. About Grandma...she loves time with him and he is ALWAYS better for her than he is for me!!! We are visiting her tomorrow!
I agree with Gincy, try giving him some rice cereal. And if that doesn't work.....Benydryl. Please, some may call me a bad mother for this. But I have NO problem giving my children a little "magic milk" as we like to call it, when they need a little help in that department. Call me if you want to know how much to give!!!! And I have no guilt b/c my old pedi. in utah told me how much I could give them when I flew with them, so what's the difference when I NEED some sleep?
I guess everyone could be right about this matter. I agree with you about the holding off on cereal thing though. He could be having a growth spurt though and a little more hungry than usual and babies wont sleep when they're hungry. You could try topping him off with a bottle after a feeding or just give him a whole one and give yourself a break for a little while. I hope you all get some needed R&R, like, immediately. Let us know what happens.
I've been there sweetie!!! I know just how frustrated and tired you feel!! It's so hard to know what's wrong with them. And it is hard to have any patience when you are exhausted. I hope he is feeling better =) Honestly, I was having similar trouble with Logan around the 4 month mark. He wasn't sleeping well, or sometimes at all. And he was so fussy. It seemed like NOTHING made him happy. A week after his 4 month birthday I gave up, got out the bowl and spoon, and started him on rice cereal mixed with breastmilk that I had pumped. I followed it with a dose of mylicon (for the first few days) and it worked like a charm. I swear to this day that he was just a hungry boy. And he has been a great eater from that day forward. That is all I know of but I hope it helps. You all are in my prayers. Hang in there!
Braden went through this too. He woke every 2 hours! I started rice cereal at 4 months. I couldn't tell a huge difference. Once the teeth broke through he was back to his old sweet self. Good Luck!
